5/18/23 New paper "Pervasive SUMOylation of heterochromatin and piRNA pathway factors" published in Cell Genomics!

We’re pleased to announce the newest publication from Ninova/Aravin lab: “Pervasive SUMOylation of heterochromatin and piRNA pathway factors.” Using diGly proteomics in Drosophila, we identified sites of SUMOylation on many proteins involved in heterochromatin organization and gene silencing through the piRNA pathway. What was particularly surprising was the discovery of numerous piRNA pathway proteins that exceeded our previous knowledge of the ways SUMOylation is implicated in piRNA-mediated silencing. Our findings have opened up new research avenues that we are thrilled to pursue! Check out our article at: https://www.cell.com/cell-genomics/fulltext/S2666-979X(23)00097-6
